According to Merriam Webster, Experience is a process of doing and seeing things and of
having things happen to you,
skill or knowledge that you get by doing something, or the length of time that you have spent doing something.
Exactly two days ago, the thank you tour embarked upon by Senator David Mark officially came to an end with a grand finale in Otukpo.
To some of us it was our first time to have the opportunity of accompanying a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for an exercise like this, and I must say that the experience was a wonderful one.
The tour was officially flagged off in Agatu with the thank you train moving round in all the nine local government areas of Zone C, and each local government area we visited, he came bearing gratitude, In a short concise speech, he veered straight to the point.
In his words “I am here to thank all of you especially
the youth for your support, you voted for the future of
the Idoma Nation, not me, you refused to mortgage
the future of our children in the hands of meddlesome
interlopers who feel they will sit outside this Zone and
decide who should win election in our land, but I
want to assure you that I will continue to fight for
your interest both at National and state as long as I
remain your humble leader”,these were Senator Mark’s words in all the local governments we visited except in Ogbadibo local government, which is the place of his opponent Daniel Onjeh where Senator Mark lost to him, Mark has these few words to tell them. His words, I am here to thank you for the votes you gave to me, and I must confess that I got the most valuable votes in Ogbadibo”, and also in Oju and Obi local governments area, Senator David Mark thanked the Igede Nation for their support, describing their votes as most crucial votes.
Senator Mark also assured the people of Zone C that their future is in safe hands as far as he remains their leader, rounding up, he also thanked the Idoma Nation for voting
him in the last year’s general election and also
revalidating his mandate during the rerun election not
minding the party he represents, hence both APC and
PDP voted for him.
Thousands of his supporters who cut across all party
divide came out in their numbers carrying placards
bearing their party logo as they were chanting and
singing songs such as ” nothing do you the lion of
our tribe”. “We shall continue to follow you” amongst
several songs to usher in their visiting hero.
Community and traditional leaders who spoke in all
the local government areas described David Mark as
dogged and resilient leader who has the interest of
his people at heart, therefore, they were unanimous
that since the number of years in the Senate are not
limited they are willing to give him their support if he
decides to come for it again or whatever maybe his
heart desires in 2019 they will give him their full support.
The exercise came to an end in Otukpo where a teenage boy of 11 years was randomly selected to be a beneficiary of David Mark’s scholarship scheme from primary school to University level.
The whole exercise was a success following the presence of
the dogged commandant of the Homeland defense
volunteers Commander. James Oche who was on the ground
to ensure that the places we visited were orderly. — with Bede Bartholomew and 4 others.
