Mark D Ball tournament is the best thing that has happened to Bayelsa State in 2015 -Coach Nelson
The Chief Coach of Bayelsa Patriots Mr. Torunarigha Tony Nelson has hailed the organisers of Mark D Ball tournament 2015 for the matured way the matches were officiated.
Mr. Nelson stated this on Thursday while addressing newsmen in Otukpo shortly after his team, Bayelsa Patriots won the 3rd place match at the ongoing competition.
According to him, this year’s competition was more favourable to them compared to their first appearance in Otukpo 2013 where they were sent packing at group stage.
“Though we couldn’t go beyond the group stage in 2013 but we were also happy that we were part of the competition and I tell you, that outing became a catalyst through which many of our players were scouted and are now playing professional games across the world.
” Honestly, Mark D Ball tournament is the best thing that has happened to Bayelsa state this year and we are happy we are here today as the 3rd best in Nigeria “, he concluded.
On her part, the team captain, Ulabo Queen Roseline expressed gratitude to almighty God on behalf of her team which she described as ” formidable Patriots ” and promised to intensity efforts to be able to clinch the trophy in Mark D Ball 2016.
The Bayelsa Patriots came hard on the Future Drive of FCT in the 3rd place match decided this morning with 53 goals to 34, to come 3rd in the tournament.
The ESPN of Otukpo is currently slugging it out with their Bethlehem counterparts to decide who comes third in the male category.
