Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson has urged the Federal Government to be unbiased in prosecuting victims’ of the electoral violence during the just concluded Bayelsa State supplementary election.
Dickson, on Monday in an interview on political platform, Raypower FM accused the All Progressive Congress (APC)-led Federal Government and Federal security agencies of sponsoring and encouraging the militants.
“It is the duty of the Federal Government and security agencies to be firm and decisive and not selective about which militant to go after because it’s not supporting you, your Party and your candidate and deciding who to go and raid or arrest”, Dickson stated.
The Governor further said that: “There are militants, as we speak, in control of communities that are armed, supported and encouraged by the APC and top security operatives at the Federal level. Right now, some of them even have security aids attached to them.
“The reason they are allowing them to do whatever they are doing is because of the support they have for their candidate. Everybody knows the person that is responsible for killing people and throwing that community in crisis.
“I have said from day one that the Federal law enforcement agencies and those who command them need to be apolitical. They need to enforce the laws as they are, irrespective of those involved, their political affiliation or who is behind it. That is the right attitude”.
Speaking on the recent pipeline bombing in Niger Delta Dickson noted that: “We are deeply concern about the unfolding scenario. I thought that this would have been the focus of those who are in charge of security at the Federal level”.
While soliciting for the support and collaboration of the APC and its candidate, Timipre Sylva, Governor Dickson said “We as a State would continue to do our own. Everyone knows my view on law, order and non-violence. We are going to make sure we work with security agencies that are prepare to do their work to ensure that we get community support so that we can flush out criminalities”.
